The drive southbound from Ivalo towards Kittila and then our final destination, Levi, was not as remarkable as I hoped. The roads were covered in snow and ice pretty much all the way, so we had to drive carefully and it made our journey a bit longer and more tiring than we hoped.
There were quite a few houses and small settlements along the 250 km road, and I could not stop thinking how could people manage to live in a such isolated way all their lives. The only excitement for me was the couple of times I managed to spot a reindeer in the woods just along the road.
หิมะโปรยตั้งแต่เช้ามืด จับตัวกลายเป็นชั้นน้ำแข็งบางๆบนกระจกรถ อากาศด้านนอกยังติบลบชวนให้นอนซุกตัวในผ้าห่มต่อ แต่ต้องฝืนลุกขึ้นมาเก็บกระเป๋าเพื่อออกเดินทางอีกครั้ง โปรแกรมวันนี้เราจะต้องขับรถไปที่เมือง Levi เมืองยอดนิยมสำหรับผู้ที่ชื่นชอบกีฬาสกี แต่ทว่า.. เราไม่ได้ไปเพื่อเล่นสกีค่ะ!
ใช้เวลาเดินทางบนถนนร่วมสี่ชั่วโมง ตลอดทางมีลมพัดแรงและหิมะตกเป็นช่วงๆ ร้านรวงและบ้านเรือนข้างทางก็ไม่ได้น่าสนใจนัก คนเมืองหนาวนี่เขาอยู่กันแบบเงียบๆสันโดษซะจริง มันจึงเป็น road trip ที่ค่อนข้างกร่อยนิดๆ มารู้สึกสนุกขึ้นมาหน่อยเอาตอนท้ายๆเมื่อมีกวางเรนเดียร์โผล่มาให้เห็นจากป่าริมทาง 2-3 ตัว
Once we arrived at our destination Levi, I felt immediately that this was going to be certainly more fun. One of the most popular ski resorts in Finland, it is pretty much a winter sports paradise where so many kinds of different activities can be tried out.
Given the area is pretty flat there is only a small hill allowing for decent slopes where Alpine ski can be practiced; most of the enthusiasm here is about cross-country skiing, with literally dozens of different paths along frozen lakes, frozen rivers and into the woods.
The town itself is pretty lively, with bars, restaurants and a few shops along the main pedestrian streets. One day we had lunch in a great Japanese fusion bar, the choices were not very extensive but I loved the way they use fresh local produces to make delicious sushi and ramen. The reindeer sushi was certainly unexpected!
รู้ทันทีว่าเข้าเขตเมือง Levi เมื่อเห็นฝูงชนเดินขวักไขว่ในชุดสกี! สกีสโลปที่นี่ใหญ่กว่าที่คิด ทั้งอุปกรณ์และเครื่องอำนวยความสะดวกต่างๆดูทันสมัย สมกับสมญาเมืองสกียอดนิยมของฟินแลนด์ นอกจากบาร์และร้านอาหาร ในเมืองยังมีร้านขายของเกี่ยวกับสกีและกีฬาหน้าหนาวเปิดอยู่เต็มไปหมด กะแค่เดินผ่านๆแวะดูเล่นๆยังเผลอเสียตังค์เข้าจนได้ (แหม! ก็ของเค้าน่าซื้อทั้งนั้นเลยนี่คะ) มีวันหนึ่งเราลองทานกลางวันที่ร้านอาหารญี่ปุ่นแบบฟิวชั่น เมนูไม่ได้มีให้เลือกมากมายแต่ชอบในความสดใหม่ของวัตถุดิบที่เขาเลือกใช้ ขอยกนิ้วให้กับซูชิเนื้อกวางเรนเดียร์เลยค่ะ
นอกจากกีฬา Alpine ski หรือสกีบนสโลปภูเขา แล้ว คนที่มาที่นี่ดูเหมือนจะชื่นชอบกีฬา Cross country ski หรือสกีบนพื้นราบ ไม่แพ้กัน การจะเล่น Cross country ski ร่างกายต้องฟิตพอสมควรค่ะ เปรียบเหมือนกับการวิ่งบนพื้นราบโดยมีแผ่นสกียาวๆให้ลากไปด้วย แต่ดูๆแล้วก็น่าสนุกดีนะคะ สามารถวิ่งเล่นลัดเลาะเข้าไปในป่า และบนแม่น้ำหรือทะเลสาปที่กลายเป็นน้ำแข็งได้ด้วย
Our resort was located only a short drive away, on the other side of the hill: Golden Crown Levi is made of a few glass igloos with a great view of the countryside. The Igloo itself is pretty comfortable, with a decent sized toilet and kitchenette, other than the main sleeping area with a double bed and sitting area.
The temperature inside is toasting warm, a great contrast to the cold winds blowing just outside.
Privacy might not be the main selling point, but the curtains provide enough cover from the neighbors whenever I was sat down or lying in bed.
ขับต่อจากตัวเมืองมาหน่อยก็ถึงจุดหมายปลายทางที่เราเฝ้าคอย มันคือรีสอร์ทในฝันที่เต็มไปด้วย Glass igloo (กระท่อมอิกลูรูปร่างเหมือนโดมทำจากกระจกใส) นั่นเอง!!! รีสอร์ท Golden Crown Levi แห่งนี้ตั้งอยู่บนเนินเขาที่รายล้อมไปด้วยป่าสน และบ้านพักตากอากาศไม้สไตล์ฟินนิช แถมมีสโลปสกีอยู่ใกล้ๆด้วย โลเกชั่นและบรรยากาศดีงามสมราคาคุย คุ้มค่ากับที่นั่งเฟ้นหา เราเลือกพักที่นี่แทนที่จะไปรีสอร์ทชื่อดังใกล้เมือง Ivalo ที่ที่ทุกคนน่าจะเคยได้ยินชื่อเพราะเขาโปรโมทหนักมาก (ขอไม่เอ่ยนามเนาะ) เนื่องจากได้ยินกิตติศัพท์ถึงการบริการที่ไม่สู้ดีนัก ห้องพักเก่าและมีขนาดเล็ก แถมโรงแรมตั้งอยู่ริมทาง motorway และมีป้ายโฆษณาบดบังบรรยากาศอีก (แค่สองข้อแรกก็ไม่ไปแล้วค่ะ)
ที่ Golden Crown Levi นอกจากวิวจะถูกใจสุดๆแล้ว ด้านในห้องพักก็ออกแบบและตกแต่งไว้เป็นอย่างดี อุปกรณ์ทุกอย่างทันสมัย เตียงใหญ่นอนสบายพร้อมผ้าห่มหนานุ่ม มีครัวเล็กๆพร้อมเตาไฟฟ้า และมีลำโพงไว้ต่อกับ iPod ให้ด้วย ในขณะที่อุณหภูมิด้านนอกหนาวติดลบ ในบ้านอิกลูของเรากลับอบอุ่นต่างกันโดยสิ้นเชิง (ไม่นับรวมอ้อมกอดอันแสนอบอุ่นของคุณสามีนะคะ อิอิ)
The resort has recently opened a small restaurant, which seems to have already become very popular, considering the amount of outside visitors coming for dinner.
The food was certainly delicious, a sort of fine dining Lappish cuisine: the Reindeer Fillet was easily the best meal I had in Finland up to that point.
ร้านอาหารคือจุดขายอีกอย่าง ถึงเพิ่งจะเปิดให้บริการไม่นานแต่กลับได้รับความนิยมเป็นอย่างมาก เขาสร้างเป็นอาคารทรงเหมือนกระท่อมสองชั้น ชั้นล่างมีเตาผิงไฟ ชั้นบนทำเป็นคอนเซปท์เดียวกับบ้านพัก คือผนังทำด้วยกระจกใส มองเห็นทะลุได้จากทั้งด้านในและด้านนอก ขอชมเชยทั้งบรรยากาศและรสชาติอาหาร แอบกระซิบว่าเสต๊กเนื้อกวางเรนเดียร์เขาอร่อยนุ่มชุ่มลิ้นมากค่ะ นอกจากแขกของโรงแรมเองคนนอกก็มากันเยอะทีเดียว ถ้าไม่จองล่วงหน้ามีสิทธิ์อดได้ที่นั่งชั้นบน แต่จะว่าไปเตาผิงไฟชั้นล่างก็ให้บรรยากาศอบอุ่นไปอีกแบบ
Despite two clear nights, sadly the Aurora did not make another appearance so all left to see was a beautiful starred sky, a meagre consolation considering my excitement about watching the Northern lights in the comfort of the bed.
The only main issue with those type of igloos is that every morning it would become very bright as early as sunrise, not exactly ideal if planning for a lazy morning in bed.
สงสัยจะใช้โชคที่พกมาไปหมดแล้วตั้งแต่วันแรกที่ Ivalo สองคืนใน Glass igloo ของเราจึงปราศจากแสงสีเขียวๆมาชวนให้ตื่นเต้น แสนจะเสียดายเพราะเป็นสองคืนที่ฟ้าเปิดซะด้วย ถ้าได้แสงออโรร่าอย่างน้อยซักระดับ Kp3 คงจะได้นอนดูแบบชัดๆเต็มจอ แต่จะว่าไปการได้นอนชมดาวระยิบยับเต็มฟ้าในกระท่อมอิกลูแบบส่วนตั๊วส่วนตัวก็ทั้งเก๋และโรแมนติกใช่ย่อยแล้วนี่เนอะ
ถ้าถามถึงสิ่งที่ไม่ปลื้ม คงต้องโทษเจ้ากระจกใสที่เป็นจุดขาย เพราะเช้ามาแสงแดดจ้าส่องเข้ามาเต็มๆเลยต้องใส่ที่ปิดตานอนทั้งคืนค่ะ อีกอย่างคือเรื่องความเป็นส่วนตัว ด้วยความที่ผนังเป็นกระจกใสแหนว คนที่อยู่ด้านนอกจึงสามารถมองเข้ามาเห็นได้ชัดเจน ถึงเขาจะทำผ้าม่านปิดให้แต่ก็แค่ช่วงความสูงระดับเอวค่ะ (เพราะไม่งั้นจะบังวิวหมด) ฉะนั้นจังหวะที่ยืนต้องคอยระวังว่าไม่ได้เผลอโชว์อะไรต่อมิอะไรให้เพื่อนบ้านดูฟรี
Decided to enjoy some of the winter activities on offer, my husband convinced me to try a snow mobile safari with a local tour company.
It was the first time for both of us, and I admit that sitting at the back was not the most enjoyable part of the trip, the bumps along the way made me feel a bit uncomfortable after a while.
It was however an amazing way to explore the local area, and our tour guide was extremely kind and helpful. He even offered me to sit at the back of his snow-mobile, since it was a bigger and newer model that made for a much smoother and enjoyable ride.
We stopped for a coffee in a small cafe by the lake, the fact that the lake was completely frozen and the cafe only accessible by skis or snow mobile made this quite an adventure in itself.
มาถึงวันที่ต้องตามใจคุณสามีบ้าง นางรบเร้าจะเล่น Snow mobile มาหลายวันละ ที่นี่เขาค่อนข้างเข้มงวดค่ะ เฉพาะคนที่มีใบขับขี่ถึงจะสามารถเช่าขับได้ เราจึงอดไป แต่ถึงได้ก็คงไม่ขับเพราะขนาดแค่นั่งซ้อนยังหัวใจจะวาย ส่วนคนขับนั้นไม่ต้องพูดถึง นางเริงร่าสุดพลังจนลืมไปว่าเมียกลัวความเร็ว แถมพื้นหิมะก็ไม่ได้ราบเรียบเหมือนที่คิดไว้ กระเด้งกระดกกระดอนจนตับไตไส้พุงสลับตำแหน่งกันมั่วไปหมด ตกลงว่านี่ Snow mobile หรือมอเตอร์ไซค์วิบาก!!! พอสบโอกาสช่วงพักเราจึงไปฉอเลาะไกด์หนุ่มให้รับเอาเมียผู้อาภัพไปซ้อนท้ายที คันของไกด์เป็นรุ่นใหม่ ทรงยาวกว่า ใหญ่กว่า เบาะนั่งสบายกว่า เราถึงเพิ่งได้เงยหน้าขึ้นมาชมวิวกะเค้าบ้าง
ที่ที่ไกด์พาพวกเราไปแวะพักระหว่างทาง คือร้านกาแฟเล็กๆริมทะเลสาป ในบริเวณนั้นมีบ้านพักอีก 5-6 หลัง ไกด์บอกว่าที่นี่ไม่มีไฟฟ้าใช้ ห้องน้ำก็เป็นแบบหลุมที่ทำที่นั่งเหมือนชักโครกปกติ พอเสร็จกิจแล้วแทนที่จะราดน้ำ คนที่นี่กลับใช้เศษไม้ฝอยๆสาดลงไป ไม่แน่ใจว่าไม้ชนิดไหน แต่กลบกลิ่นได้ดีจริงๆค่ะ
The area around Levi offers some interesting sights also for the younger ones. A few small reindeer farms are dotted around, offering the chance to ride on a original reindeer sleigh, just like Santa does. Perhaps the sunny and warm day did not make it feel very Christmas-like when we stopped so I was quite happy to just say hello to those pretty animals.
A few kilometers north, in a pretty location, we found the Luvattumaa – Levi Ice Gallery complete with wedding chapel for those who fancy a different kind of celebration.
They charge a small fee to visit, but it is well worth the price and they deserve something for all this effort in building and carving all of this. Sleeping inside an ice cubicle is not my kind of thing, but taking a few pictures and feeling like a character just out of Frozen was an experience to remember.
นอกจากกิจกรรมหัวหกก้นขวิดสุดแอนเวนเจอร์ที่กล่าวถึงแล้ว กิจกรรมเบาๆสำหรับแฟมิลี่เขาก็มีให้เลือกมากมาย ซึ่งไม่ต้องบอกก็คงรู้ว่า “ฟาร์มกวางเรนเดียร์” เป็นสถานที่ยอดฮิตของดินแดนซานต้าคลอสแห่งนี้ ถ้าไม่ได้เห็นตัวเป็นๆก็เหมือนมาไม่ถึงถิ่น เราเลือกแวะดูที่ฟาร์มเล็กๆแห่งหนึ่งใกล้กับที่พัก บรรยากาศสงบ ไม่พลุกพล่านดีค่ะ
ขับต่อไปอีกไม่ไกล ก็มาถึง Luvattumaa – Levi Ice Gallery โรงแรมน้ำแข็งที่ทุกสิ่งด้านในถูกเนรมิตขึ้นมาจากน้ำแข็งทั้งหมด ไม่ว่าจะเป็นโต๊ะ เตียง เก้าอี้ หรือเคาน์เตอร์บาร์สำหรับดื่ม! ที่จริงเขาทำเป็นเหมือนแกลเลอรี่จัดโชว์ผลงานแกะสลักน้ำแข็งและหิมะซะมากกว่า มีการเก็บค่าเข้าชมด้วยแต่ต้องบอกว่าคุ้มมากๆค่ะ เพราะของเขาไม่ใช่แค่ไก่กาทำมาหลอกเด็ก ต่อให้แมนๆแค่ไหนได้เห็นเข้ารับรองว่าต้องร้องว้าวไม่ขาดปาก (เฉกเช่นคุณสามีดิชั้นเองค่ะ) ไฮไลท์ของที่นี่คือ Snow Chapel โบสถ์เล็กๆที่ทำได้สวยอลังสมจริง และสำหรับคู่ที่ต้องการความแหวกแนวในวันสุดพิเศษ คุณสามารถจัดงานแต่งงานในโบสถ์หิมะแห่งนี้ได้จริงๆด้วยนะคะ ทำให้ถึงขนาดนี้สาวกเอลซ่าห้ามพลาดด้วยประการทั้งปวงค่าาา เลท อิท โกวววว!!
Lapland was as amazing as I expected, and to my husband pleasure it was also great fun to do a few winter sports. I will never forget the beautiful moment I saw the Northern lights for the first time. I must thank Mother Nature for being so generous in her display.
สรุปว่าฟินแลนด์ ฟินสมชื่อ!! เพราะตอบทุกโจทย์ความต้องการ มีทั้งธรรมชาติที่สวยงาม กีฬาหน้าหนาว กิจกรรมแอดเวนเจอร์ และกิจกรรมเบาๆสำหรับทุกคนในครอบครัว พระเอกของทริปคงต้องยกให้กับ “แสงเหนือ” ปรากฏการณ์ทางธรรมชาติสุดวิเศษ ที่ต้องอาศัยทั้งจังหวะและโชคจึงจะได้เห็น (อ่านได้ในบล๊อกก่อนหน้านี้ค่ะ) ส่วนประสบการณ์การนอนในบ้านอิกลูก็เป็นอะไรที่พิเศษสุด ถ้าไม่ลองก็ไม่รู้ ทริปแลปแลนด์ครั้งนี้จึงนับเป็นทริปตะลุยเมืองหิมะสุดแฟนตาซีเหมือนกับที่วาดฝันเอาไว้ไม่มีผิดเพี้ยนค่ะ
