7 nights in Paradise. Atmosphere Kanifushi, Maldives

It doesn’t take long to realise you have arrived in paradise; actually even before landing in Malé Airport, as you look out of the window of your plane, you might be worried you are still asleep and what you are seeing is unreal.

มัลดีฟ เกาะสวรรค์ในฝันของใครหลายๆคน รวมถึงตัวฉันด้วย ฉันนับวันรอที่จะได้เริงร่าท้าแดดอยู่ท่ามกลางน้ำทะเลสีฟ้าใส หาดทรายขาวละเอียด กับบรรดาปลาทะเลน้อยใหญ่ที่ว่ายเวียนอยู่รอบๆเกาะเล็กเกาะน้อยกลางมหาสมุทรอินเดียอันเลื่องชื่อนั่น

This amazing and unique country in the Indian Ocean is made up by 26 atolls, with over a thousand island, but yet it is the smallest Asian country by land mass. Most islands are just big enough to host a resort, so that is the reason this destination is the preferred choice for people looking for seclusion and exclusivity.

มัลดีฟคือประเทศแห่ง Atoll หรือ เกาะรูปวงแหวนที่เกิดจากหินปะการัง 26 แห่ง ที่แตกแขนงออกมาเป็นเกาะเล็กเกาะน้อยอีกนับพัน นับเป็นประเทศที่เล็กที่สุดของทวีปเอเชียวัดจากมวลขนาดของพื้นดิน (ไม่รวมทะเล) ถือเป็นภูมิประเทศที่ชวนตื่นตามากทีเดียวค่ะ

The main island, and city, of Malé is the capital city and often overlooked by tourists. Thanks, or actually due to, a last minute change of flight schedule by the airline, I arrived at the international airport long before my transfer by seaplane was due so I had the chance to visit this city before heading to my final destination.

One of the local staff, a very friendly guy called ‘Mohamed Ashraf’, took great care of me and showed me around his capital city Malé. The city is very small compared to any Western or Asian city, but there are still a few interesting sites, like the Friday Mosque or the Fish Market, and  since most of the local population lives here it is the only chance you get to experience some local lifestyle. It does not take long however to have a city tour here, and I still managed to enjoy a drink at a cosy rooftop bar.

เราตื่นเต้นตั้งแต่ไฟล์ทยังไม่ลงจอดสนามบินที่ Malé แล้ว 555 พอลงเครื่องก็ต้องมารอที่เลานจ์ของโรงแรมเพื่อต่อ seaplane ไปที่รีสอร์ท หนึ่งเกาะจะมีรีสอร์ทเพียงหนึ่งแห่ง เสมือนเป็นเกาะส่วนตัวของใครของมัน ด้วยความที่ค่าโดยสาร seaplane หรือเครื่องบินเล็กที่ลงจอดบนผิวน้ำได้นั้น ราคาสูงเอาการ (แพงกว่าไฟล์ท กรุงเทพฯ – มาเล่ อีกค่ะ) เลยไม่มีใครคิดจะเดินทางข้ามเล่นไปเกาะอื่น มาถึงก็พักอยู่กันแต่ที่เกาะของตัวเอง การเลือกโรงแรมจึงค่อนข้างสำคัญมาก เพราะต้องกิน-นอน-เล่นอยู่แต่ในนั้น ถ้าพลาดแล้วคือพลาดเลย

The great thing about Malé airport is that half of it is just like anywhere else in the world, but the other half is the seaplane terminal where a fleet of over forty seaplanes are flying from sunrise to sunset to take all the guests to their resorts. There is no fixed timetable, it is created the previous day by the company depending on guest arrival times and destination, so when my turn arrived I was informed that our plane would stop at three others resort before reaching Atmosphere Kanifushi, my place of choice for the week.

วิวจาก seaplane  ระหว่างทางไปรีสอร์ทคือที่สุดของที่สุด ถึงเครื่องยนต์จะเสียงดังไปบ้าง แต่ความตื่นตาตื่นใจกับวิวด้านล่างทำให้รู้สึกเพลิดเพลินไปตลอด 40 นาที ระหว่างทางมีจอดแวะส่งผู้โดยสารที่รีสอร์ทอื่น 3 แห่งก่อนจะถึงรีสอร์ทของเรา ส่วนพี่ๆนักบินที่ขับ seaplane ก็ดูเท่ห์สุดใจในเสื้อยูนิฟอร์มสีขาวกับกางเกงขาสั้นและเท้าเปล่า! This is a fantastic way to see the areas and the views from the seaplane are just incredible, I almost wished it would take longer to arrive. Once my destination was announced, looking out of my window I was sure I made the right choice, the island was stunning and the sea was so clear in colour I could not wait to jump in. After arrival we were received at the jetty (yes, seaplanes dock just like boats) and taken to the lobby where the usual paperwork were done and a refreshing welcome drink was enjoyed.

เราตั้งใจไปพักกัน 7 คืน สำหรับคนไทยอาจจะดูนานเกินไปแต่สำหรับฝรั่งแล้ว 7 คืนออนเดอะบีชคือธรรมดาสามัญ ถือว่าชิลล์ๆค่ะ ด้วยราคาห้องพักค่อนข้างสูงเราจึงช่วยกันเลือกเฟ้นให้ได้ที่ที่คิดว่าคุ้มค่าคุ้มราคาที่สุด มาเจอรีสอร์ทหนึ่งเป็นรีสอร์ทใหม่ที่เพิ่งเปิดบริการ Atmosphere Kanifushi  ที่นี่เขาขายแพคเกจแบบ Platinum All Inclusive หมายถึงจ่ายเหมาราคาเดียวแต่รวมค่าใช้จ่ายทุกอย่างเรียบร้อยแล้ว ทั้งอาหาร 3 มื้อ เครื่องดื่มทุกชนิดรวมถึงแอลกอฮอล์ และกิจกรรมทางทะเลต่างๆ เรียกได้ว่าอยู่บนเกาะกินดื่มเต็มที่ฟรีทุกอย่าง! แอบได้ยินมาว่ารีสอร์ทที่ขายแต่ห้องพักไม่รวมอาหาร เขาชาร์จค่าอาหารกันแพงเว่อร์ บางทีซื้อห้องมาราคาโปรโมชั่นแต่พอไปจริงโดนค่าอาหารกันอีกหลายหมื่น กินไม่ระวังอาจมีกระเป๋าฉีกกันได้

Our Sunset Villa, like most other villas, at Atmosphere Kanifushi, was reached by a golf cart. The resort has a fleet of those cart that will come pick you up at your convenience, since the island is pretty long, the longest in the area we were told. The Atmosphere concept is Platinum All Inclusive, it basically means that once you set foot on the island everything is included, high quality food, and any drink, including wine and spirit. There are two swimming pools and different bar and restaurant areas, however it is the villa where I spent most of the day. With direct beach access and such beautiful view I almost felt like I was on my own private island.

Atmosphere Kanifushi ตั้งอยู่บนเกาะซึ่งเขาว่ากันว่ามีขนาดยาวที่สุดใน Atoll แห่งนี้เลยห้องพักถูกสร้างแบบเรียงเดี่ยวเป็นแนวยาวตามชายหาดแต่ละหลังจึงเหมือนมีหาดส่วนตัวของตัวเองห้องพักของเราคือ Sunset Villa ซึ่งเป็นห้องแบบสแตนดาร์ดของที่นี่ตอนมาถึงพอลงจาก seaplane มีพนักงานหนุ่มสองคนมายืนตีกลองคอยต้อนรับตามสไตล์พื้นเมือง (ยิ้มเห็นฟันขาวดูน่ารักเชียว) ตามด้วยผู้จัดการโรงแรมเข้ามาทักทายต้อนรับและพาเราไปที่ล๊อบบี้ซึ่งมีเครื่องดื่มแบบ sparkling พร้อมรอเสิร์ฟเพื่อเติมความสดชื่นหลังจากที่เดินทางมาหลายต่อระหว่างเดินไปล๊อบบี้เราเห็นเจ้าฉลามน้อยตัวหนึ่งกำลังว่ายเล่นอยู่แถวท่าเรือ seaplane ด้วย (แอบกรี๊ดกร๊าดอยู่คนเดียวในใจ) เพียงแค่ก้าวแรกก็หลงรักเกาะนี้ซะแล้วสิ!

It is a must, however, to go on a boat trip and explore a bit more of the atoll. So I joined a snorkelling trip, and despite the sea was a bit rough that day, it was great fun to see all that life under the water. The funny part is that you don’t really need to join a trip to see the underwater life, for most of the week a baby shark used to come just in front of my room where I normally went to swim. At first it was a bit scary but then I got used to him and became a welcome visitor.

7 คืนที่เกาะมัลดีฟ บางคนถามว่าไม่เบื่อเหรอ? ขอตอบแบบไม่คิดเลยว่า ‘ไม่’ ค่ะ แถมติดใจอยากกลับไปอีกเอามากๆ ได้พักผ่อน กินนอน สบายๆ ทะเลอยู่ตรงหน้าห้องพัก บรรยากาศเงียบสงบเหมือนหาดส่วนตัว เป็นสวรรค์ของคนรักทะเลจริงๆ ที่รีสอร์ทนี้ยังมีสระว่ายน้ำขนาดใหญ่ถึง 2 สระ ไหนจะบาร์และห้องอาหารอีกหลายห้อง บ่ายๆก็ไปล่องเรือดำน้ำดูปะการัง วันดีคืนดีก็มีลูกฉลามมาว่ายน้ำเล่นด้วย เราเจอตรงช่วงน้ำตื้นๆแค่เข่าที่หาดหน้าห้องพักเลยค่ะ บางวันกำลังทานอาหารเช้าอยู่มองไปก็เห็นฝูงโลมาแหวกว่ายเล่นอยู่ไม่ไกล มีอะไรให้ได้สนุกตื่นเต้นอยู่ทุกวัน ส่วนการเดินทางในรีสอร์ท เราสามารถโทรเรียกให้รถกอล์ฟมารับได้ หรือบางทีแค่ออกมายืนรอที่ตรงทางเดินไม่ถึง 10 นาที ก็จะมีรถผ่านมา เราก็โบกเรียกได้ตามอัธยาศัยค่ะ

Evenings were normally a great time to relax and chill out, the cocktails at the bar, or the tasty food at the restaurants was always a great way to finish the day. Luckily for me there was also a Thai staff called ‘Thongjune’ so I could ask a few things about the hotel and the area, he was very kind and even gave me some cup noodles when I was craving for Thai spices!

นอกจากจะประทับใจที่พักและบรรยากาศแล้ว พนักงานที่นี่ก็เป็นมิตรมากเลยค่ะ  Mohamed Ashraf สต๊าฟหนุ่มที่มีหน้าที่มาคอยรับลูกค้าที่สนามบิน ตอนขามา ระหว่างที่เรารอเวลาต่อเครื่อง seaplane ไปที่รีสอร์ท เขาอาสาพาเราไปเดินเล่นชมเมืองหลวงมาเล่ ดูตลาดปลา ตลาดผลไม้ Friday Mosque และไปนั่งดื่มชมวิวบนดาดฟ้าร้านอาหาร แหม่ นี่ถ้าเขาไม่ได้ใส่ชุดยูนิฟอร์มของโรงแรม คนคงนึกว่ามาเดทกันเป็นแน่ ส่วนขากลับเขาก็มานั่งรอไฟล์ทเป็นเพื่อนที่สนามบินอยู่หลายชั่วโมง เราเลยไม่ต้องนั่งแกร่วอยู่คนเดียว  ที่สำคัญมันคือนอกเวลาทำงานของเขาค่ะ (ซาบซึ้งน้ำตาจะไหล) เราชอบพูดคุยกับคนท้องถิ่นอยู่แล้วเลยคุยกันสนุกใหญ่ เขาชอบดูบอลอังกฤษ เป็นแฟนฟุตบอลทีมอาเซนอลทีมโปรดน้องชายเรา ชอบกินอาหารไทย โดยเฉพาะผัดไทย แล้วเขาก็ยังชอบถ่าย selfie และขาด iphone ไม่ได้! ยิ่งได้คุยก็รู้สึกว่าสังคมเขาคล้ายๆกับเมืองไทยเลยแฮะ ทุกวันนี้เราก็ยังเป็นเพื่อนกันใน Facebook ค่ะ มีเพื่อนเป็นคนมัลดีฟเท่ไม่หยอกเลยนะเรา อิอิ
