Testaccio, the hipster neighbourhood, the former residential area of Roman working class. Now becoming well known as vibrant, artistic area, with loads of nice restaurants and bars. No wonder why many artists and actors live in the area.
Testaccio (เตสตัสโช่) ย่านอยู่อาศัยดั้งเดิมของชาวโรมันชนชั้นแรงงาน ปัจจุบันจัดว่าเป็นย่านที่มีชีวิตชีวา และเต็มไปด้วยสีสันจากงานศิลป์ มีบาร์ ร้านอาหารชื่อดังมากมายทั้งแบบโรมันดั้งเดิมและแบบร่วมสมัย ศิลปินและนักแสดงหลายคนก็อาศัยอยู่ในย่านนี้ ถือเป็นแหล่งสุดฮิปของโรมก็ว่าได้ ถ้าเทียบกับบ้านเราก็คงประมาณย่านเอกมัย
I stayed here for 9 months. It is very convenient location, not far from the center but a lot less touristy. It takes only 15 minute walk to the Colosseum, and 30 minutes to the Vatican. My favourite activity is walking along the Tiber river (or Lungotevere) on a sunny day. I still remember the first time I’ve seen this river, I knew I could live here forever. However, the peak time is during Summer! There’s a lot of shops and restaurants opening along the river walkway till late night. Could take almost an hour just to walk and check the place. I love to hang around there in the evening for aperitivo, sipping spritz aperol with river view means I’m having a great day!

ช่วงหน้าร้อนน้ำจะลด ทำให้เราลงไปเดินด้านล่างได้ด้วย ตรงเส้นนั้นจะมีการจัด summer festival (ช่วงมิ.ย. – ส.ค.) ตลอดทางเดินยาวเต็มไปด้วยร้านอาหาร ร้านขายของ การแสดงดนตรีและเกมส์ต่างๆ เปิดตั้งแต่เย็นจนถึงเกือบเที่ยงคืน แต่ละร้านก็มีคอนเซปท์ และการตกแต่งที่น่าสนใจแตกต่างกันไป แค่เดินเลือกร้านก็เพลินแล้วค่ะ ช่วงหน้าร้อนที่นี่คึกคักมาก ทั้งชาวโรม ทั้งนักท่องเที่ยว ออกมาดื่มกินกันสนุกสนาน ฉันชอบที่จะออกไปแฮงค์เอาท์ตอนเย็นๆ จิบเครื่องดื่มโปรด spritz aperol ไปพลางชมวิวแม่น้ำไปพลาง ง่ายๆแค่นี้แหละวันที่แสนพิเศษของฉัน!
*Spritz Aperol คือเครื่องดื่มแอลกอฮอล์สีส้ม ออกรสส้มขมๆ เวลาดื่มผสมกับ sparkling wine ถ้ามาอิตาลีบอกเลยว่าห้ามพลาด ไม่เชื่อลองมองไปรอบๆสิ จะเห็นคนดื่มกันเกือบทุกโต๊ะเลยล่ะ
Another side of the river is Trastevere. If you are looking for a long stay but don’t want to break your bank account, you have found the right place. Trastevere is not fancy yet frenzy and fun. A big big crowd of tourists every time I’ve been there. With my kindergarten level of Italian, hearing English speakers is kind of comfortable to me though – I’m in a safe place! And I can read the menu! Since the restaurants and bars here are a bit tiny, bar hopping seems like a great idea. Drink here, eat there, too packed here, let’s move there, and hey let’s drink another glass at that corner! I do love this tourist’s life in Rome. I suggest everyone should be a tourist in their own city, from time to time. They are crazy happy people!
อีกฝั่งของแม่น้ำคือ Trastevere (ตรัสเตเวเร่) ย่านโรงแรม/เกสต์เฮาส์ราคาสบายกระเป๋าสำหรับนักท่องเที่ยว คล้ายๆกับถนนข้าวสารบ้านเรา ทุกอณูเต็มไปด้วยนักท่องเที่ยว เดินไปไหนก็ได้ยินภาษาอังกฤษ และมีเมนูภาษาอังกฤษ! มันทำให้ฉันรู้สึกอุ่นใจขึ้นมากทีเดียว ก็ภาษาอิตาลีของฉันยังไม่กระดิก (เทียบเท่าระดับชั้นอนุบาลเห็นจะได้) ย่านนี้ไม่หรูหราแต่ทว่าสนุกนัก ผู้คนเดินกันขวักไขว่ ไม่มีครั้งไหนที่มาแล้วไม่คึกคัก ร้านอาหารส่วนใหญ่เป็นห้องแถวแคบๆ ผู้คนเลยชอบที่จะย้ายร้านนั่งไปมา แวะไปดื่มร้านนั้น กินร้านนี้ คนเริ่มแน่นละ ย้ายไปอีกร้านดีกว่า แล้วไงก่อนกลับขอแวะไปดื่มร้านที่ตรงมุมโน้นอีกสักแก้วนะ! ฉันล่ะชอบจริงๆเลย พวกนักท่องเที่ยวที่โรม ใช้ชีวิตสนุกเป็นบ้า! ฉันว่าบางทีเราก็ควรจะเล่นบทนักท่องเที่ยวแล้วออกไปสนุกสุดเหวี่ยงในเมืองที่เราอยู่กันบ้างนะ
Porto fluviale is our favourite pizzeria near home. It’s one of the top ranked pizzerias in Rome. All guests visiting me in Rome are taken there to be impressed. Opposite the pizzeria, there’s a building completely covered from the roof to the floor with colourful graffiti. The eyes are our real windows. What an amazing artwork! Next stop, Gelateria La Romana, just around the corner. They’re famous for gelato and crepes. Don’t give up if you see the long queue. It’s worth the wait!
วกกลับมาแถวบ้าน Porto fluviale (ปอร์โต้ ฟลูวิอาเล่) เป็นร้านพิซซ่าร้านโปรด และเป็นร้านประจำไว้รับแขก ใครมาหาเราที่โรมร้อยทั้งร้อยจะต้องโดนพาไปที่นี่ ร้านนี้อร่อยขึ้นชื่อติดอันดับท๊อปในโรม ขนาดว่าร้านใหญ่โตกินเนื้อที่หลายช่วงตึก ไปทีไรคนก็เต็มทุกครั้ง ส่วนตรงข้ามร้านพิซซ่าคือมุมโปรดสำหรับการถ่ายรูป เป็นตึกที่ถูกเพ้นท์ลายกราฟฟิตี้เป็นรูปหน้าคนหลากสีวาดซ้อนกันทั้งตึก ภาพดูเป็นมิติสวยงามมาก ถ้าลองดูให้ดีจะเห็นว่าตรงส่วนตาคือหน้าต่างพอดี ฉันละนับถือไอเดียสร้างสรรค์นี้จริงๆ! ทานพิซซ่าเสร็จก็ต้องไปหาของหวานทานต่อ Gelateria La Romana ร้านเจลาโตชื่อดังที่อยู่ตรงตรงหัวมุมถนนถัดไป ร้านนี้มีชื่อ ทั้งเจลาโต ทั้งเครป รับประกันอร่อยคุ้มค่ากับการที่ต้องยืนรอคิว
Monte Testaccio is a night club area. There’re interesting story about this Monte (hill in Italian). It’s actually an artificial hill made up of millions of smashed amphorae. In ancient times, the amphorae, containing wine and olive oil, were broken up and dumped on the spoil heap after being unloaded from a nearby port on Tiber river. The amphora became the logo of Testaccio since then. The fountain at Piazza Testaccio is the proof of this legacy.
Monte testaccio (มอนเต้ เตสตัสโช่) คือเนินเขาขนาดย่อม เป็นแหล่งไนท์คลับสำหรับผู้ที่ชอบท่องราตรี สมัยก่อนบริเวณนี้อยู่ใกล้ท่าเรือขนส่งสินค้า (ลืมบอกไปว่าชื่อร้านพิซซ่าก็แปลว่า ท่าเรือ) ยุคนั้นชาวโรมันนำเข้าไวน์ และน้ำมันมะกอกจำนวนมาก บรรจุมาในโถขนาดใหญ่ ตำนานเล่าว่าเนินนี้เกิดจากทับถมกันของซากโถที่ถูกโยนทิ้งจำนวนหลายล้านชิ้น ไม่ได้เป็นเนินธรรมชาติแต่เกิดจากฝีมือ (การทิ้งขยะ) ของมนุษย์ต่างหาก! โถที่มีหูจับสองข้าง จึงกลายมาเป็นตราสัญลักษณ์ประจำย่าน Testaccio เห็นได้จากน้ำพุที่ลานสแควร์ Piazza Testaccio
Nearby Monte Testaccio there is Ex Mattatoio, the former slaughterhouse. After being dismissed, the empty vast space has been used mainly for social and free activities like Music school, Comtemporary art museum, also it hosts Eutropia music festival in Summer. Surprisingly, I have found one Michelin starred restaurant hidden in the area as well.
ถัดไปใกล้ๆกับ Monte Testaccio คือ Ex Mattatoio (เอ๊กซ์ มัตตาตอยโย่) แต่เดิมคือโรงชำแหละเนื้อขนาดใหญ่และเก่าแก่แห่งหนึ่งของโรม ภายหลังได้ถูกรื้อถอน กลายเป็นลานเอนกประสงค์ใช้จัดกิจกรรมทางศิลปะ มีการตั้งโรงเรียนสอนดนตรี พิพิธภัณฑ์ศิลปะร่วมสมัย และจัดเทศกาลดนตรี Eutropia ในช่วงซัมเมอร์ ที่น่าสนใจอย่างมากคือ มีร้านอาหารมิชิลิน 1 ดาวซ่อนอยู่ในบริเวณด้วย ดูจากด้านนอกนี่ไม่มีทางรู้เลย
Stazione di Posta or The Postal Station. The restaurant has nothing to do with the Post or Station. Though, I love this creative name. The restaurant had been decorated in modern art style and being separated in three zones; outdoor, bar, and restaurant. I ordered the course menu for first trial. However, the most impressive dishes were the complimentary appertizers and desserts. Each set came with a lovely tiny portion of 4-5 dishes. Some were in the bird’s nest, some were hanging from the bonzai tree, some were in the test tube. So fancy and creative!
Stazione di Posta แปลว่า สถานีไปรษณีย์ เฉพาะชื่ออย่างเดียวนะ ร้านไม่ได้มีอะไรเกี่ยวข้องกับไปรษณีย์เลย การตกแต่งก็เป็นแนว modern art นี่แหละค่ะ เพื่อให้เข้ากับบรรยากาศรอบๆ แยกเป็นโซน outdoor โซนบาร์สำหรับนั่งดื่ม และโซนทานอาหาร มาครั้งแรกเลยลองสั่งเป็นคอร์สแนะนำ ที่ทำได้น่าประทับใจคือ complimentary (ของบริการฟรี) จากทางร้าน ทั้งเมนูเรียกน้ำย่อยก่อนอาหาร และของหวานหลังอาหาร ทำเสิร์ฟเป็นคำเล็กๆน่ารัก 4-5 อย่าง แต่วางทีเต็มโต๊ะ รูปแบบการนำเสนอก็แสนจะครีเอท วางมาบนรังนกเอย ห้อยกับต้นบอนไซเอย ใส่ในหลอดวิทยาศาสตร์เอย ขากลับยังแถมชาและขนมอีก 2 เซ็ตให้เอากลับไปทานที่บ้านอีกด้วย เจอแบบนี้บอกเลยว่าประทับใจอย่างยิ่งยวดค่ะ
